I have also received numerous e-mails from people all over the globe wishing to parttake in this mission. One of the e-mails that really touched my heart was from Jane Ramee from New Orleans, Louisiana but she is the president of the Gulf States Quilting Association(GSQA) which represents Louisiana, Mississippi, and parts of Alabama and Florida. Her home was flooded from the levee break during Hurricane Katrina, but she is one of the fortunate ones who have rebuilt and are back home. Here are her words "Because of my experience, I have wanted to find a way to help quilters who were victims of the midwest flood -"pay it forward" - after the outpouring of help we received in 2005. GSQA will have a quarterly general meeting on Saturday and I am compiling an "Adopt a Guild" list to be handed out with contact information of individuals who are willing to accept and distribute donations." " was lucky during our flood that "only" my first floor flooded, and not my sewing room on the second floor. I can remember how holding a fat quarter could bring so much comfort, and the overwhelming feeling of relief when finding that my quilting friends were alive after weeks without contact. Now it is my turn to help. Many thanks to people like you who are also offering help and support."
Thank you Jane, these words are so encouraging for us to hear. I wanted to give a little shout out to my friends in the industry that are sending donations. Linda Hohag from Brandywine Designs is sending me fabrics and some of her wonderful products. Leasure Arts found us through Pat Sloan's blog and is donating some of their fabulous books. Pat Sloan is also throwing in some extra products for everybody that shops from her web store for the flood victims, and mark it "Iowa Quilters", she will ship it directly here so that you won't have to worry about it.
Here are also some bloggers that have helped spread the word on our mission. Check them out and send them some love.
I would really like to hear more stories on how you are spreading the word and helping this mission, on your blogs, with your guilds or sewing groups. Write me a few words in the comments. Here is my adress again for those donations, so you don't have to scroll down for the older posts.
