It's been crazy around here as you might have imagined by the blogging absence. If you think it is an advantage to have quilt market so close to home, I might disagree with you. I seem to push everything until last minute!! If I was traveling for market, my booth would be shipped off by now and all I would have to do today was to have my toes painted and so on! (I did squeeze that in today though!) Now I am writing this at 7:30 pm, we are leaving at noon tomorrow and I have still about 6 things on my list! I also would like to make me a skirt out of my fabric before the show....we will see about that. Now that will be a major accomplishment if that happens because I have never made myself a skirt before. If you spot me wearing one this weekend, be sure to pat me on the back.....and don't notice the crooked seams!!
I am sure if I lived on this street, my life would just be a piece of cake. I actually saw this street sign in Rockford, Illinois!! I wanted to move there but my family said NO!! Do you think a quilter lives there?
I will be blogging from market, from my iPhone so check in through the weekend. Have a great one!!
Thank you so much for all of your wonderful comments. It was so fun to see which projects were your favorites. Many had the same favorites but all of the projects in the book got a vote. That is just great to hear....it's kind of feeling like all of the kids in the class get at least one vote for class president....makes a momma feel good!
For the winner.....after all the names from all the posts were added to the pot....plus the bonus entries for blogging about the book celebration.....I couldn't just pull one name out of that huge pile!! I pulled three names!! Winners are:
Kathy from http://www.quiltmonkey.blogspot.com/
Congratulations, send me your snail mail address and I will send you a copy of the book as soon as it arrives from the printer.
Now for all of you unlucky ones that really wanted a book and were telling me that you had to have it, I put a few books into the Etsy kit shop just for you to preorder. There is limited quantity that I am offering this way, but you can secure your copy out of the first batch. Just click on the link to get there.
I finally got my fabric last week and had two wonderful quilting angels visit me and help me get some quilt tops done. Four quilt tops were finished in one day by the 3 of us!! The third angel is quilting them right now so I will show you guys the whole line and the quilts when I get them back from the quilter, but here is a peak at some of my favorite fabrics in the line.
My new pattern went to the printer today and you are of course the first one to see the cover!!
Strip In the Box - a new one in the strip pattern series using 2-1/2" strips. The little quilt in the corner is what I did with the leftovers. I used Botany, a fabric line by a new Moda designer which was really fun. The background fabric is out of my Olivia line though and it worked perfect with it!
Tell me what you think? Do you like the idea of including instructions for making a bonus quilt for your leftovers?
I hope you are here for the last day of the Fast & Furious Holiday Celebration. Let's check out the final projects in the book that are shown on page 16.
One more version of the Treat Bag.
A Table Runner fit for the Thanksgiving table or just as a staple Fall decoration.
Trick or Treat wall quilt is super fun to make for your door on Halloween. The runner is called Ric Rac runner and is super fast to make using only 3 fabrics and some ric rac. That one could be made for any holiday, just choosing the perfect theme fabric.
Last but not least, Spruce Lane. This runner can be done in Christmas fabrics or just Northwoodsy fabrics for the cabin. I used the newest line from Kansas Troubles for the one on the bench.
This is it! You have seen all the projects in the book in the past week. I am kind of sad we are done, it's been so fun to read all your comments. It would be great to hear which ones are your favorites out of the whole book; Do you have more than one? Is it fabric that rules your preferences or the design? Do you visualize any of these projects made up in your house for the Holidays? Tell me all about it and get in on the giveaway. I will draw names out of all of the comments from each day on Monday 5/10.
We are on to the fifth day of the Fast & Furious Holiday Celebration. Let's look at another one of the color pages in the book and see what projects are shown on page 15.
I love this runner, it was the first one I made for the book....the big inspiration. It was on my coffee table all through Christmas last year and got lots of attention!
Another set of addicting ornaments to make, Christmas!! We really went crazy with the bling gun on those too. So much fun!!
This tree skirt is so pretty, thanks to Heather Mulder Peterson's fabrics. She sent me some of her advance yardage and I just love how it turned out. The line is called At Home for the Holidays and will be in stores end of May.
That's it for today. Be sure to check in tomorrow for the final projects in the book. Remember to comment, I am loving reading all your thoughts on the book!
Welcome to the fourth day of the Fast & Furious Holiday Celebration. Now we are checking out another one of the color pages in the book and see what projects are shown on page 14.
Here is another version of the Treat Bag, this is my darling neighbor and friend Loren, Easter Egg Hunting! She is such a cutie. I asked her if she had an Easter dress to wear for the photo shoot and she responded right away..."I have three!" Her mom tried to persuade her to wear the one that would go well with the bag...but no way...this is the one she was going to wear, with her sparkly shoes!! I love it!! The bag is made with Fig Tree's fabric, Fresh Cottons.
The Egg Hunt Runner is also from Fresh Cottons, Layer Cake squares (the runner and 2 bags were from the same pack!)
Many of you have seen that one!! It's the project from our Christmas blog hop! Everyone loved it so much so I decided to include it in the book.
That's it for page 14....remember to comment to enter the giveaway...
Welcome to the third day of the new book Celebration. Now we are checking out one of the color pages in the book and see what projects are shown on page 13.
Set the Mood placemats are really fun and festive. I love the scrappy-ness of them. There are three different motif options, hearts for Valentines Day, Leaves for Fall or Stars either for 4th of July or Christmas. The placemats can be made with Charm squares or Layer Cake Squares.
This runner is one of my favorites, it looks really cute on a table.
These are so fun to make, it's hard to stop!! Instant gratification because it only takes you about 10 minutes with each one....or less!! Love the feather tree too!!
Tell me what you think, all comments will be entered into a drawing for the book!
Today I am going to share more projects from the new book with you, Fast & Furious Holiday.
We are going to check out the quilts shown on the back cover.
This is one of my favorite photo's in the book. My photographer Paula did a great job as always and I love the antique look. In the book there is a pattern for a treat bag. It is versatile because it can be used for Parade candy as seen in this picture, Halloween candy or an Easter Egg hunt. It is super quick to make if you make it from a single fabric like the bags shown on the left and right. If you want yours a little more special, you can piece your main fabric as shown with the center bag. I added some applique'd stars to make it even more festive.
The models in the photo are my daughter Svana in the center, her friends Kylie on the right, Hannah on the left and Loren behind in the wagon.
A very fast project, would be great as a present for our military people;)
This snowman is so fun to make. I got to use Basic Gray's new Holiday line of fabric from Moda called Fruitcake. The snowman border was just perfect.
That's it for today.....remember to comment to increase your chances of winning a fresh copy of the book.
The book is at the printer and we will have them before Quilt Market, hopefully around May 15th. The book has 16 projects, all done with the "Quilt as you go" method. There are projects fit for any holiday in the book, Valentines Day, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas!
The cover winner this time are these fun stockings, made with Kate Spain's 12 Days of Christmas fabric for Moda. The fabric will be arriving in stores very soon!! They are so fast and fun to make using a Layer Cake pack along with some fabric for the back, lining and cuffs. I had lots of fun embellishing the Stockings with ric rac, trim & buttons.
I will be Introducing all the projects in the book with a week long celebration, starting tomorrow through Saturday. You can't have a celebration without a giveaway now can you? If you leave a comment on the posts, you have a chance to win a copy of the book when it comes back from the printer. The freshest one...first one out of the boxes!! And you can leave comments on each day (please do!!) to increase your chances of winning. If you want even more chances to win, spread the word on your blog and tell me about it....your name goes in the pot one more time.
I am so glad that I made the decision to share what we are going through right now because your encouragement and kind words through the blog, e-mail & FB have really touched me and helped me. Thank you so much dear friends, reading all the comments felt like I was getting great big hugs from all of you....you are the greatest.
I am doing a little happy dance today....a small milestone to celebrate....the book is finished!! It went to the printer yesterday and released a big load off my back, YAY!! Make sure you come back here on Monday because I am going to reveal the cover of the book....here first!!
No the title of the book is not Fast & Furious Ho!!! I promise!!
Now I have one more pattern to finish and get to the printer next week and then I have to hurry up and wait!! Wait for what? Yes, I am still waiting for the sample yardage of my new fabric line that will debut at Quilt Market. The last I heard was that it will be arriving next week.....hopefully. When the fabric arrives, it will be a sewing mayhem over here. We have about 6-8 quilts and projects to make before market!! Every time a FedEx truck rides through the neighborhood I jump....but it hasn't stopped here yet....but soon!! I'll show you all the goodies when they get here.
So to show your something today, here are some quilts that you have made with my patterns. Look at this gorgeousness!
Nancy from New York made this wonderful quilt with my Strip Stacks (GE 141) pattern out of a Verna jelly roll and sent me the great picture. I just love it!! I have a Verna Jelly roll sitting around and am totally tempted to make me one of those beauties.
Nancy has been on a Strip Search kick and I think she has made 5 of these!! I love the pink, black and white version above as well as her floral goodness below. Great job!!
I better get going, its a busy day today.....soccer game, gymnastics & Prom!!! Yikes!!
