December is my favorite month of the year, yes it is my birthday month and so for that reason only it should be a favorite but I also love christmas and the holiday season. I have always decorated my house a lot, attempted to bake cookies (not an expert baker but do survive) and I have always tried to work on something with a christmas theme in December. I know....as a designer I should be working on christmas stuff in the spring but I just love working with christmas fabrics, playing christmas music in December....it just puts you in the best mindset for the season.
This month has been crazy busy with other things too so that explains the blog dryspell a little bit. Here is my checklist of things done this month both with my work hat on and the mom hat, that is outside of the daily tasks of running the business and the household:
Work: Designed a few new patterns, pieced a new strip pattern, designed projects for my new book (yes, finally a new book coming this spring), approved strike offs for a new fabric line released this spring, edited the line down to the right amount of sku's (hardest part of my job, I would like to keep them all...it's like sending your kids off to camp and they don't come back!!), sent a few projects to magazines, started designing a new line of fabric for fall (lots of work to be done here), quilted a couple of things for my new book, finished a quilt for a magazine and sent it off.........
Home: Decorated my house, baked a few cookies, dipped pretzels, hosted a christmas party, bought all the presents for my family-wrapped them and shipped them off to Iceland, ordered the christmas cards (the stack is waiting for me now for the next step...actually getting them out), helped the kids make christmas quilts to cuddle with (I'll show you later), made some gifts for friends, sewed christmas pillowcases........
Ok, now I feel better, I have been feeling like I get nothing done....now I am going to enjoy the rest of this month to the fullest.
Thanks all that commented on the coasters, I loved reading your comments and your tips. So the random number generator picked two numbers, #14 and #19. The winners of the fabric pack are
sweetbabies00: "I really love your blog. The coasters are very cute. They would be a great gift! w/ a bottle of wine to go along with. Thanks "
and
Annette http://ncsamborskis.blogspot.com/: " On your upcoming birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! I have to admit to continually celebrating my 39th bd - that way I've had all my kidlets - because I LOVE my life with them in it :) THANK YOU for the coaster tutorial - it's great. I'm going to make coffee coaster from it. I have some coffee themed fat quarters and a few little gifties to make and this looks like the perfect match. So thanks for making gift giving a little easier for me this year.
Now why some lovely Journey fabric is needed at our house - 'cause it's time to create a few new things for my living room and you guesed it - Journey is the perfect fit. Or maybe a lovely new tote/purse... the possibilities!!
P.S. A lovely red is Lindelman's Bin 45. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of a really nice Riesling we purchased at Sam's Club - cool bottle - hint of pear... if it comes to me i'll let you know.
Enjoy this wonderful season and thanks again for a wonderful tutorial. Well done!"
Congratulations gals, send me your mailing adress [email protected] and I will send you an early christmas present.
