I have been going back and forth in my head if I should even share what has been going on around here in the past week. I don't want to burden or bore my dear readers but on the other hand...I have always been real with what I have written here and gotten tremendous encouragement and support through all of your comments. Some of you that visit on Facebook might know a little bit about what is going on. So here is what has been going on in my little world lately.....
As some of you that have been following my blog for a while maybe know (I shared it in this post) my husband Torir, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in the spring of 2006. At the time he went through 2 loooong surgeries to try and remove the tumor, and they were successful in removing almost all of it. The tumor was cancerous but a slow growing one. Since then, he has had to have MRI's on a regular basis (every 3 or 6 months) to watch the tumor, but no other kind of treatment. We always knew that this tumor was going to come back, or start growing again because there have always been tumor cells present in the scans but so far they had been dormant......until his MRI last week!! We got the news that the tumor was back at it, still growing slowly but enough so that now the doctors want to do something. The first round of action will be chemotherapy. He will most likely start next week if all the paperwork gets figured out and be on a 4 week cycle, continuing for a whole year if things go well. Torir is in great spirits and is really ready for the fight. We surely do appreciate all your prayers and positive thoughts our way in the coming months.
As you can imagine, my little world has been shaken quite a bit, stress levels were high to begin with since Quilt Market is only 3 weeks away!! Yikes! On top of that, I am still waiting for the sample yardage of my new fabric line Halo, which will be introduced at the show.
Luckily I have some things on my side right now
-Market is in Minneapolis this year....only 30 minutes from my house so I can really do things last minute!
-My parents are coming to visit from Iceland (if they can fly!!) in 2 weeks which will be such a great support.
-I am surrounded by a great group of friends that are all willing to help out with anything family related, kids, sewing or supporting us in any way.
-My book will hopefully be making it to the printer by the end of the week, we finished photographing on Monday and I am editing everything right now.
-I have a good stock of wine which seems to be the only medicine that relieves the chronic knot in my stomach!!
I'll show you some book sneaks soon,
XOXO
